Ipe Wood

Height of 7-11 m, with trunk 70-90 cm in diameter. Composite leaves 6-foliolate; leaflets glabrous or pubescent, 7-18 cm long by 4-8 cm wide.

It is distributed throughout the Amazonas and Northeast to the State of São Paulo (Brazil). It also occurs from the Guianas to Central America.

Cumaru Wood

Large tree, exceeding 30 m in height; smooth, yellowish shell; rectilinear and cylindrical shaft with “sapopemas”, with a diameter of one meter.

With a slightly tortuous stem, more than 65 cm in diameter with a smooth greenish bark, 0.60 cm thick, with a viscous colorless resin, “sapopema” up to 1.0 m in height. Very heavy wood.

In commercial area, the height usually reaches 8.77 m, with DAP (diameter at breast height) equal to 48.88 cm and with DAS (diameter at height of sapopema) equal to 70.20 cm, with straight trunk or tortuous and with low sapopema at 2.70 m.
